Bulldog teams state ranked

The Gainesville Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs were ranked last week in the top 10 in the state in class 2 basketball.
The boys' team was 6-0, ranked sixth in the state and also defeated Ava Saturday in the championship game of the Mansfield Tournament. Results of that game will be published next week.
The Bulldogs defeated Riverview Christian and Niangua to advance to the championship round of the tournament.
In the game against Riverview, Gainesville pummeled RC, 87-41.
Leading scorer was Thomas Ritter with 25 points, followed by Treydon Rackley and Harley Taylor with 11 each.
In the second round, Gainesville dropped in 97 points to defeat Niangua 97-71. Thomas Ritter was again the leading scorer with 22. Harley Taylor had a double-double with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Treydon Rackley netted 18 points for Gainesville while Zach Voss chipped in 16.
In other games, the Bulldogs beat Viola 81-36 on Dec. 3. Thomas Ritter had 18 points, followed by Braden Voss with 14.
On Dec. 17, Gainesville traveled to Forsyth and was in for a real battle the first half with the Panthers. In a game that saw 48 fouls called, things were very physical, especially during the first half. That kept the game close, but Gainesville stepped on the gas pedal the second half and ended up running away with the game, 92-66.
Thomas Ritter led all scorers with 35 points. Harley Taylor had 12 and Cody Neal netted 11 for Gainesville.
The Bulldogs were ranked sixth in the state in class 2 by the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association.
Lady Bulldogs
Not to be outdone by their opposite-sex peers, the Gainesville Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-0 and were ranked fourth in the state Thursday in class 2 basketball by the MBCA. Gainesville lost by one point to Bakersfield Thursday night and now stand at 6-1. The Lady Bulldogs will likely drop in the rankings with the 56-55 loss.
Gainesville standout Madison Strong finished with 28 points. Abby Britt and Brianna Strain each had 7 for Gainesville.
Also scoring for Gainesville were Tali Rose with 6, Sarah Evans with 3 and Destiny Scott and Sara Jo Cunningham with 2 each.
"We were outrebounded 30-14 in this game," Gainesville coach Jackie Harris said. "We lost on a last-second putback of an offensive rebound by Bakersfield."
Gainesville's JV team won 25-19.
