Bulldogs blast Bakersfield for homecoming victory

It's not very often you can hold your opponent to 2 points in a quarter of high school varsity boys' basketball while scoring 22 yourself. But the Gainesville Bulldogs did just that Friday night as Gainesville celebrated its homecoming with a 63-26 win over the Lions.

The halftime scoreboard told the story as Gainesville led 41-6 en route to the blowout win.

Senior Josh Peter led Gainesville with 16 points, followed by Thomas Ritter with 15 and Zachary Voss with 12.

Top scorers for Bakersfield were not provided by coaches.

Gainesville lost to Conway 76-68 on Jan. 15. Thomas Ritter led the Bulldog effort with 21 points. Josh Peter netted 16, and Braden Voss chipped in 12 for Gainesville.

Gainesville improves to 11-6 while the Lions drop to 3-7.

The Bulldogs are on the road Thursday at Thayer and will host Lutie Friday night for another intra-county contest.
