Bulldogs win consolation at Mansfield tourney

The Gainesville High School varsity boys' basketball team began their season. Dec. 4 at the Mansfield Tournament. Gainesville opened up with the Norwood Pirates. The Bulldogs lost an 8-point lead heading into the fourth quarter and dropped the first round game 51-43.

Leading the way for Gainesville was Thomas Ritter, who had 17 points and 6 rebounds. Also scoring for Gainesville were:

Braden Voss-8 points, 8 rebounds; Josh Peter-7 points, 5 assists; Aaron Swanson- 3 points, 7 rebounds; Zach Voss-2 points, 7 rebounds; Seth Evans- 2 points, 5 rebounds; Harley Taylor-2 points.

In the second-round game, the Bulldogs were able to bounce back, beating Niangua 68-64.

Thomas Ritter led all scorers with 27 points. Others scoring for Gainesville were: Josh Peter- 13 points; Zach Voss- 11 points 12 rebounds; Luke Whiddon-6 points 6 rebounds; Aaron Swanson-5 points; Harley Taylor-4 points.

In the consolation game the Bulldogs won a close one in overtime, beating Houston 68-67. Thomas Ritter again led Gainesville with 22 points. Others scoring for the Bulldogs include: Josh Peter-14 points, 4 assists; Harley Taylor-19 points, 7 rebounds; Aaron Swanson-6 points, 6 assists; Zach Voss-4 points; Luke Whiddon-3 points.

Thomas Ritter made the All-Tournament team.

Dora was scheduled to host Forsyth Tuesday night. Details from that game were unavailable at press time. Next up for the Bulldogs will be the Couch Indians at Couch Friday night for a 5 p.m., game.
