Dora beats Gainesville to advance in tourney

The Dora Falcons avenged a loss last month to the Gainesville Bulldogs in the championship game of the Cabool Tournament with a big win over the Bulldogs Thursday in the semifinals of the Gainesville Tournament.

The Falcons held the Bulldogs to just 4 points in the fourth quarter to come from behind with a 40-37 win. Dora will play Seymour in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

"I was very proud of my guys," said Dora coach Rick Luna. "They showed a lot of heart and toughness by battling back the way they did."

Jacob Pardo led Dora in scoring with 15 points. Dillan Collins netted 11 points, with 8 of those being in the fourth quarter, for the Falcons. Also scoring for Dora were Billy Sexton with 8, Dylan Fox with 4 and Gavin Haney with 2.
