Dora R-III sets preschool family night, kindergarten screenings in March

Dora R-III School is accepting applications for preschool for children who will be 3 or 4 before Aug. 1, 2017.
Parents are invited to attend preschool family night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in the school cafeteria. The event features orientation, a tour of the preschool and refreshments. Parents who are unable to attend may pick up an enrollment package from the office. Enrollment forms must be returned no later than April 13. During the first week of June, parents will receive a letter stating whether their child is “enrolled for next year” or “on the waiting list.”
School administrators said enrollment decisions will be based on determining which students would benefit most from the preschool program, which is designed to to help children prepare socially as well as academically for their kindergarten year, school administrators said.
Students who are 5 years old before Aug. 1, 2017, are eligible for kindergarten screening, which is set for Friday, March 31. Parents may pick up a kindergarten enrollment packet, which includes all forms needed.
Parents or guardians should contact Pam Collins, 261-2337, to schedule an appointment for the kindergarten screening as soon as possible. A copy of the child’s birth certificate, shot record and Social Security card will be required at the screening. In addition, parents should bring the name of the child’s physician and date of last check-up, along with the insurance provider and policy number.
Preschool will not be held on kindergarten screening day.
