Dora schedules kindergarten screening, preschool enrollment

Dora R-III School will be conducting kindergarten screenings Friday, April 1, at the school. Children will be eligible for kindergarten if they will be 5 before Aug. 1, 2016. Kindergarten packets are now available for pickup in the school office; the packets include the forms needed for kindergarten enrollment. The completed forms should be brought to the scheduled screening appointment.

Preschool
Preschool applications are also being accepted now. Children will be eligible for preschool if they will be 3 or 4 before Aug. 1, 2016. Parents may pick up a preschool packet at the school office. It should be returned no later than June 1.
Once the completed forms are received by the school, the child will be placed on the waiting list. During the first week of June parents can expect to receive a letter saying whether the child is “enrolled for the next year” or “on the waiting list.” The letter is sent as a courtesy so that parents of children on the waiting list have advance warning that there might not be an opening for their child at this time. Children already enrolled in preschool will be on the top of the list.
 
Documents
Parents must bring the following items with their children for their screening appointment: the student’s birth certificate; Social Security card; current immunization record; physician’s name, address and phone number; date of last doctor’s check-up; insurance provider and policy number; parent’s complete business address, phone number and work schedule; complete contact information for emergency contacts and people authorized to take the child from the school, including; name, address and phone number. #
Parents of children who are currently enrolled in preschool and are moving on to kindergarten next year need to call for an appointment. No preschool classes will be held during screening day.
