Dora students wear orange to honor former classmate

Dora Middle School students, shown here, along with most of the rest of the school, wore orange Sept. 29 in honor of a former schoolmate, Macy Loveless, 13, who died of cancer Sept. 24 at a university hospital in Columbia. Macy attended pre-k through first grade at Dora before transferring to Mountain Grove. When students learned the Mountain Grove residents planned to wear orange, the color designated to represent leukemia, and line the streets of Macy’s funeral-procession route that Tuesday, they adapted the plan themselves, and the result was “a sea of orange” throughout the school, one teacher said.
