Gainesville Lady Bulldogs defeat Seymour, 11-5

<p class="p1">Gainesville’s Lady Bulldogs softball team traveled to Seymour Tuesday, April 4, and brought home an 11-5 victory. “Seymour beat us the first game of the spring, 16-6,” said coach Codfy Swearengin. “So it was good to play them again and have a different outcome. I think it is the best that the girls have played all year.” </p><p class="p1">Emily McKinzie struck out 13 batters and had three walks. “She pitched exceptionally well”said Swearengin. “When she pitches well, it is hard to beat us.” </p><p class="p1">Sophomores Makayla Mansker and Cassie Carlo swung some hot bats. Makayla went 3 for 5 with a triple and 2 singles, while Cassie went 2 for 4 with a double and a single and 3 RBIs. Hali Wallace was 1 for 1 with 3 sacrifice flies driving in 3 runs.</p><p class="p1">The Gainesville girls traveled to Alton Thursday, April 6, where they won 18-6, and to Mansfield on Friday, April 7,where they lost 7-0. </p><p class="p1">The Lady Bulldogs hosted the Hartville Eagles Monday, and lost, 11-10, bringing their spring record to 4-3.</p><p class="p1">The team traveled cross county to Dora to take on the Lady Falcons Tuesday. Scores were unavailable at press time.</p>
