Gainesville Lady Bulldogs take Sparta tourney championship for fourth consecutive year

The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs brought home the championship trophy for the fourth consecutive year after soundly defeating first-seeded Norwood, 44-29,  on Wednesday, Jan. 11.
The Lady Bulldogs, seeded second in the tounament and ranked fourth in the state, were led by seniors Destiny Scott and Michia Jenkins, who each scored 10 points. Annie Noah and Shelby Smith scored 8 points each, followed by Shai Meek with 4. Chasity Mansker and Aspyn Britt chipped in 2 each.
Destiny, Annie and Shai led in rebounds, pulling down 6 each while Annie and Aspyn led in assists with 3 each and steals with 2 each.
Thursday, the Gainesville girls hosted the Dora Lady Falcons and held on to their undefeated record by winning 64-40.
Annie Noah led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Destiny Scott led in steals and assists with 7 and 6, respectively. Aspyn Birtt had 4 assists and 3 steals.
The Lady Bulldogs hosted Mountain Grove Monday night, and were able to keep a spotless record by defeating the Lady Panthers, 61-35.
Scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Annie Noah 21, Destiny Scott 10, Shai Meek 7, Aspyn Britt 7, Michia Jenkins 7, Shelby Smith 5, Chasity Mansker 2 and Cassie Carlo 3.
The Lady Bulldogs host Mansfield Thursday. Games start at 6 p.m.
