Gainesville picks up wins

The Gainesville Bulldogs got back on the winning track last week after losing two in a row in their own tournament the week before.
The Bulldogs not only got back to winning, but did it in impressive fashion, clobbering Conway 57-36, and battering Bakersfield 79-41.
"We played what was probably our best half of basketball of the season in the first half against Conway," said Gainesville coach Aaron Dalton. "Conway was off to a good start in the conference race, having already knocked off Seymour, so this was a good win to put us in the mix in the conference."
Dakota Nash led Gainesville in scoring with 21 points, followed by Logan Strong with 17. Paxton Smith chipped in 7 while Cody Garlough and Sawyer Jeckstadt each had 4. Zack Voss and Corey Pool rounded out the Bulldog scorers with 2 each.
Hosting a struggling Bakersfield team on Friday, Gainesville jumped out to a 21-11 lead after one quarter and never looked back, beating Bakersfield 79-41.
Paxton Smith led all scorers with 24 points on the night for the Bulldogs. Smith was drilling the threes, hitting six of them in eight attempts.
Sawyer Jeckstadt had 12 points for Gainesville, followed by Dakota Nash with 11, Cody Garlough with 10, Corey Pool and Wyatt Grisham with 5 each, Kase Wilson with 4, Drake Potter with 3, Seth Evans and Kyle Clayton with 2 each and Zack Voss with 1.
Bakersfield's stats were not made available from the coach.
Gainesville improved to 12-4 with the wins. The Bulldogs were scheduled to play at Dora Tuesday night. Details of that game were unavailable at press time.
Gainesville will host Lutie at 6 p.m. Friday.
