GHS DECA members bring home awards

Nine Gainesville DECA members traveled to Springfield to compete in the District 11 Career Development Conference Thursday, Feb. 9. Five members placed in the top five in their respective events: Thomas Pointer, second place in business finance series; Nick Woodward, third place in principles of finance; Joseph Hutchings, fourth place in quick-serve restaurant management; Rebekah Cummings, fourth place in principles of hospitality and tourism; and Rylen Wynn, fifth place in automotive services. Adviser Patsy Hambelton accompanied the students and expressed appreciation to Michelle Pointer, who served as one of the event judges for the conference.
