GJH athletes place at WP, Ava track meets

The Gainesville Junior High School track team competed at West Plains and Ava open track meets recently.

Sixteen schools sent athletes to the West Plains meet April 10. Seventh grader Treydon Rackley took first place in the 800-meter run and set a new school record with a time of 2:26:24. The 800-meter seventh grade relay team – Nathaniel Lynne, Rylen Wynn, Jon Paul Lazorchak and Thomas Pointer took seventh place at the meet. The 400-meter seventh grade relay team – Nathaniel Lynne, Rylen Wynn, Jon Paul Lazorchak and Treydon Rackley - placed eighth.

The 800-meter eighth grade relay team – Aaron Swanson, Tyelor Estes, Brody Meek and Jonathan Plaster – placed eighth. Swanson placed fifth in long jump with a distance of 15'7.5". Braden Voss took eighth place in shot put with a distance of 36"5".

April 17, the team traveled to Ava to compete. Treydon Rackley brought home two first-place medals, winning the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs. Baylee Lynn took second place in the seventh grade shot put competition with a distance of 21"8". Baylee Lynne also took second in discus with a distance of 68' 4". Nathaniel Lynne places third in the 400-meter-dash and fourth in 100-meter dash.

Eighth grader Aaron Swanson placed first in the long jump with a distance of 16'3" and took first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:38:12. Swanson also placed second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13:91.Braden Voos took first in the discus, 110'4" and second in shot put, 32'8". Josh Cockrum placed second in the 400-meter dash, 1:19:37. Jonathan Plaster's time of 30:97 earned him third place in the 200-meter run.
