GJHS boys take second place in summit conference tourney

The Gainesville Junior High boys basketball team took second place at the Summit Conference tournament Oct. 17-21 in Mansfield. The Bulldogs, seeded in the number 2 spot, defeated Fordland 45-13 in the first round then took on number 3 seed Seymour and won, 40-28, before falling to first-seed Hartville, 53-24. The Bulldogs currently hold a 10-4 record and will take on Lone Star in the Koshkonong Tournament Thursday.  “I am very pleased and excited with the progress the boys have made this year,” said coach Matt Powell. “They come to practice ready to work every day.  The community has a lot to look forward to with this group of young men.” Members of the team are, from left (front) Westin Wilson, Quinton Donley, Isaac Hartman, Parker Wise, Aidan Murphy.
