Hoover from Dora FFA Chapter is named Area 13 Star Farmer

<p class="p1">Dora FFA member Tanner Hoover was named the Area 13 Star Farmer at the 89th Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Brian and Jodie Hoover of West Plains. His advisor is Paula Bodenhamer.</p><p class="p1">Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture in the student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 13 includes 22 chapters in the south central district.</p><p class="p1">MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star Farmer awards and the State Star Farmer Award.</p><p class="p1">Hoover’s supervised agricultural experiences (SAE) consist of diversified livestock production including beef cattle, sheep and goats. He also works at the Norwood Producers Livestock Auction during the monthly sheep, goat and small animal sale.</p><p class="p1">Hoover has served as the chairman for the cattle working contest and agricultural literacy committees. He has received the Area 13 sheep production proficiency award and earned a gold emblem ranking at the national level for his state-winning diversified livestock production proficiency. </p><p class="p1">In addition to FFA, Hoover is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and National Beta Club. He also participated in his high school varsity basketball and baseball teams.</p><p class="p1">After high school, Hoover plans to study business at Missouri State University-West Plains and obtain his real estate license.  </p>
