Lady Bulldogs drop two games

The Gainesville Lady Bulldogs varsity basketball squad dropped two games last week to Seymour and Sparta in the Sparta Tournament.

In the game on Jan. 4 against Seymour, the Lady Bulldogs suffered a 40-point loss at the hands of the Lady Tigers, 65-25. Freshman Madison Strong led Gainesville in scoring with 13 points.

In the third-place game against Sparta on Saturday, Gainesville played better but still fell to Sparta 61-57. Strong again led Gainesville in scoring, this time with 21 points. Alyssa Abraham netted 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

Gainesville was scheduled to play at Dora Tuesday. Details from that game were unavailable at press time. The Lady Bulldogs will host Alton on Jan. 14.

Gainesville has a 7-6 record and are 2-1 in conference play.
