Lady Falcons edge Gainesville in close one

The Dora Lady Falcons and the Gainesville Lady Bulldogs like to take it down to the wire. The last time these two teams met, the Lady Falcons won in overtime at Dora.

The two teams met again Monday night, this time at Gainesville. After jumping out to a 21-15 halftime lead, the Dora Lady Falcons held on to beat Gainesville for the second time this year, 43-42. Gainesville outscored Dora 17-13 in the fourth quarter, but their rally was too little, too late.

Madison Strong, a Gainesville freshman, was the top scorer for the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points, followed by Tali Rose, who had 12. Scout Jeckstadt netted 8 for the Gainesville squad.

Jordan Smith led Dora in scoring with 12 points, followed by Kelsi Land with 11.

The Lady Falcons were 2-1 this past week, also picking up a win on Friday night at Bradleyville, 62-26. Dora lost to Crocker Saturday in a game at Three Rivers College, 62-52.

The Lady Bulldogs were 1-1 this past week, picking up a win Thursday at Koshkonong, 66-41.

In that game, three Lady Bulldogs were in double figures, with Sarah Evans leading the way with 17 points. Sara Cunningham and Madison Strong each netted 10 points for Gainesville.

Gainesville is 10-9 and will host Bradleyville Thursday.

The Lady Falcons improved to 17-6 on the year and will host Izard County, Ark., on Feb. 1.
