Lady Falcons win softball district title

The Dora Falcons won the second Class 1 District 2 high school softball championship Thursday night, defeating second-seeded Thayer, 10-0.
The Falcons advanced to the championship game after beating Norwood 9-0 Wednesday night.
The Falcons scored nine runs in the first inning against Thayer with an incredible display of hitting. Sophomore Kelsi Land hit a long home run over the left-center field fence to get the Falcons started.  Makala Trail pitched an excellent district tournament without allowing a run. Cheyanna Miller, sophomore, had a bases-loaded triple and played well in right field. Sophomore Hannah Masters made two outstanding catches in left field to help preserve the wins.

"I'm very proud of the girls," said coach Joshua Strong. "They have played great all year, and now to win their second District, they are playing their best ball of the season!  It was extra special to win this one in front of the home crowd!"
Dora will host the Sectional round of the Class 1 State Tournament Oct. 10.
The time and opponent are still undetermined.

The Falcons' record stands at 18-4.
