Lions defeat Lutie by 50

The Bakersfield Lions, coming off a consolation win in the Mountain Grove Tournament last week when they lost to Salem in the first round before beating Dora and Ava, defended their home court Monday night against the Lutie Indians.
The Indians couldn't get things going against the focused Lions' squad and were blown out 88-38.
Wyatt Summers came up big for Bakersfield with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the team.
It was a total team effort though for Bakersfield as nearly every player in uniform scored in the blowout win.
Others on the Bakersfield scoring bandwagon were Kraig Foster with 11, Devin Murphy with 8, Noah Shrable with 8, Joe Vaughan with 7, Jacob Grayham with 7, Bub Marsh with 7, Klay Paul with 6, Nash Bentley with 4, Harley Smith with 3, Logan Roberts with 2 and Patrick Moss with 2.
Ryan Garrison led the Lutie efforts with 13 points, followed by Jake Gooley with 9.
The Lions move to 12-7 on the year and will travel to Couch Thursday.
Lutie is now 7-9 after the loss, but the team was happy with a win Friday night at home where senior Steven Andrews scored his 1,000th point as a Lutie Indian. Andrews dropped 30 on the night that saw him lead his team to a 65-44 win over New Covenant Academy. The Indians will travel to Hurley on Friday.
In girls' action Monday night, Bakersfield easily defeated Lutie 57-27 with Natalie McKee leading the way with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Mariah Burnett netted 10 points for Bakersfield while Larissa Britt added 9.
The Lady Lions were coming off a 53-49 win over Cabool last week where Larissa Britt had a season-high 26 points, shooting 7 for 10 and 4 for 4 from the three-point line.
In JV action, Bakersfield won a two-quarter contest against Lutie 25-6. Abby Reeves led Bakersfield with 8 points followed by Natalie McKee with 7.
The Lady Lions' JV squad also won against Cabool 56-18.
