Thanks to all who made our “Meet the Candidates” fundraiser dinner such a success on Friday, July 20.
We’ll host a similar pre-election gathering at noon Friday, July 27, when Ozark County Farm Bureau sponsors a candidates meet-and-greet here at The Center on Highway 5 north at the Gainesville city limits. Candidates are invited to speak for three or four minutes and then answer questions. Punch and cookies will be served – a perfect “second dessert” after our regular Friday fried-fish lunch (see costs/suggested donations below). The meet-and-greet event is free of charge, and everyone is welcome.

Menus
Lunch is served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is open to everyone. The cost is $6 for those younger than 60; a $3.50 donation is requested for those over 60. Call 679-4746 to order take-out for 25 cents more.
Wednesday, July 25: kielbasa and cabbage, fried potatoes, fresh-baked roll, peanut butter cookie. Thursday, July 26: oven-fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, country vegetables, homestyle biscuit, gooey butter cake. Friday, July 27: fried fish, brown beans, coleslaw, cornbread, apple pie. Monday, July 30: chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, seasoned green beans, homestyle biscuit, Jell-o cake. Tuesday, July 31: chicken wings, French fries, coleslaw, cheesecake. Wednesday, Aug. 1: birthday lunch – shrimp, baked potato, green beans, fresh-baked roll, cake and ice cream. Thursday, Aug. 2:roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, country-style vegetables, peach cobbler.

Thursday, July 26: crafters corner 10 a.m., Bingo 1 p.m., music jam session 6 p.m. Friday, July 27: Farm Bureau meet and greet 12 p.m., arthritis exercise class 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30: arthritis exercise class 1 p.m., cards 2 p.m., Bingo 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31: cards 10 a.m., dominoes 1 p.m.

OATS

OATS transportation is available to the entire county and to anyone regardless of age, income, disability, race, gender, religion or national origin. If you don’t see your area listed, call driver Angela Pleasant, 417-343-0573, for help arranging your ride. For rides from Bakersfield, Caulfield and Dora, call Jean Lawing, 284-7377; from Theodosia and Gainesville, call Mary Piepergerdes, 679-4142. To arrange rides to Springfield, call Lawing or Pleasant. For trips on Tuesday, please call by the preceding Friday; for trips on Thursday, please call by Tuesday. No scheduling is done on the weekend. This is the OATS schedule for the rest of July and for August:
Each Thursday of the month Caulfield and Bakersfield go to West Plains. Monday, July 30: Pontiac goes to Branson. Tuesday, Aug. 7: Theodosia and Gainesville go to Branson. Monday, Aug. 13: Pontiac, Gainesville and Theodosia go to Springfield. Tuesday, Aug. 14: Theodosia and Gainesville go to West Plains. Monday, Aug. 20: Caulfield and Bakersfield go to Mountain Home, Arkansas. Tuesday, Aug. 21: Theodosia and Gainesville go to Mountain Home. Tuesday, Aug. 28: The whole county goes to Gainesville. The Ozark County Food Pantry is open at a special time this day for those who ride the bus.
