Emergency responders as well as other motorists who stopped to help are credited with saving the lives of Gregory McGee, 62, and Josh Randolph, 31, who were injured in a June 30 crash on Highway 5 south. Shortly before this photo was taken, rescuers pulled McGee from the Chevy Blazer (left) after it burst into flames. The responders then rushed to help stablize Randolph while his partially ejected torso and midsection were pinned under his Chevy Impala (right). Members of the National Guard, Lutie school district and Salem General Baptist Church worked together to distribute fresh food boxes to 150 families during a June 19 drive-thru event at the school. The group is organizing another distribution to be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 23. To reserve a box for pickup that day, call Lutie School at 417-273-4150.
