Lutie Indians hosted Dora Falcons for Homecoming on Friday

Ozark County basketball fans crowded into the Lutie gymnasium Friday night to watch the Indians take on the Dora Falcons.
The girls took the floor first, but the Lady Indians fell to the Dora girls 55-25.
The crowd was loud as the Indians and the Falcons boys teams were introduced. Fans watched a real battle between the two teams. With 1:13 left in the game, Lutie was down by 2 points and had the ball. Dora fouled Eli Morpeth, putting him on the free throw line where he sank one to bring the score to 47-46.
The Indians were unable to score in the remaining seconds, and the Falcons scraped by to take the win.
The Indians were led by Carter Campbell with 20, Jake Gooley with 11 and Eli Morpeth with 7.
Tuesday, Feb. 7, Lutie traveled to Riverview, where the girls lost 53-42.
The boys led 18-17 at the end of the first quarter and were down by just 2 points at halftime, but Riverview wound up taking a 80-64 win over the Indians.
The Indians then traveled to Hollister Monday night, where they played School of the Ozarks. The girls had it tied up 18-18 at halftime, but the game got away from them in the second half. The Lady Indians lost, 43-30.
Thanks to Jake Gooley’s buzzer-beater lay-up, the Indians won their contest, 62-60. At halftime, Lutie was down 27-17, but a strong third quarter found the Indians leading 38-36.
With 2 minutes left in the game, School of the Ozarks had the game tied and fans sitting on the edge of their seats. Then Lutie senior Jake Gooley drove in and made a lay-up at the buzzer to seal the victory.
Gooley led the scoring with  33. Ryan Garrison and Carter Campbell had 10 each, Garrett Souder added 8, and Eli Morpeth  chipped in 3.
