More than 300 Ozark County children participate in summer ball program

The Ozark County summer baseball/softball league recently finished the 2015 season. Thirty teams participated in the league with players ranging in age from 4 to 14.  Bakersfield fielded six teams, Lutie had one team and Gainesville had 23 teams.  The total number of participants was between 300-320 players, according to league coordinator Morris Jenkins.
“On behalf of Gainesville School I would like to thank all involved who helped make the summer baseball/softball league a good experience for the players who participated,” Jenkins said.  “We appreciate all the players, parents/families, volunteer coaches, volunteer concession stand workers, volunteer burger/hot dog cooks, Gainesville Lions Club, and the community in general for the support of the summer program.
“I also thank Bakersfield and Lutie for their participation and cooperation in the league.  Without the help of many hands from a lot of different directions, the kids would not have this opportunity.”
