Benjamin T. Rankin, a senior at Central High School in Springfield, has been named a National Merit Scholarship finalist for 2016. Benjamin is the son of Rom and Laura Nielsen Rankin of Springfield and the grandson of Gainesville residents Dave and Juanita Nielsen. Laura Rankin is a 1986 graduate of Gainesville High School.
