New shoes for every GES student

Every Gainesville Elementary School student received a free pair of shoes Monday, thanks to Convoy of Hope’s Rural Compassion Ministries program. Ozark County Health Department administrator Rhonda Suter applied for the shoe giveaway and was delighted to hear that the GES application was accepted.
“One of the things I really like about this program is that every single student gets a free pair of shoes,” said Suter. “No one is singled out or left out.”
A total of 347 pairs of shoes were distributed by Suter and volunteers Holly Strain, Paula Rose, Miranda Myers, Laura Burrows and Amy Morris.  The shoes were donated by a shoe manufacturer that partners with Convoy of Hope.
“All the kids were really excited about getting their new shoes,” Suter said. “I’d also like to comment on how very well-behaved the kids were during the fitting process two weeks ago and during the distribution on Monday.”
Gainesville R-V superintendent Joe Donley was happy to see the elementary students all get new shoes.
“I’d like to thank Rhonda Suter for her efforts in obtaining the grant for our community and the volunteers for helping with sizing and distribution,” Donley said.
