Nash Memorial Golf Tourney is Saturday

The 12th annual Joe Nash Memorial Benefit Golf Tournament is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Lost Woods Golf Course in Theodosia. The tournament is a two-person scramble with an entry fee of $100 per team. All proceeds will go to the Ozark County Food Pantry and the Gainesville Youth Empowerment Program’s backpack food project.
Prizes will be awarded to winners, and door prizes and extra awards also will be given away. A pie auction is planned after the awards ceremony. The public is encouraged to attend and to keep in mind that all the money raised goes to help those in need right here in Ozark County.
The Ozark County Health Department will offer free PSA screenings from 8 to 10 a.m. before the tournament. The late Joe Nash, tournament organizer Jeff Nash’s father, died of prostate cancer in 2002 at the age of 65, and since then, Jeff has made it his mission to see that all men get regular screenings. Guidelines recommend that men begin regular screening at age 50 unless they have a family history of the cancer.
The PSA screening offered at the tournament is a simple blood test. Call Nash at 679-4907 to schedule a test. Men who can’t attend the golf tournament can call the health department at 679-3334 to schedule a free PSA test.
Those who are unable to participate in the tournament may send donations to the benefit. Make checks payable to the Ozark County Health Department and mail them to Jeff Nash, P.O. Box 725, Gainesville, MO 65655. For more information, call Nash at 679-4907 or call Lost Woods Golf Course at 273-4877.
