Pontiac Chili Cook-off is Saturday, Jan. 20

The annual Pontiac Chili Cook-off and live music will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at Just Jackie’s restaurant in Pontiac. The cook-off is open to all chili-making competitors, and all types, varieties and heat levels of chili are welcome. Competitors are asked to deliver chili warm/ or hot and ready to serve in a slow cooker or warmer with a serving utensil and an extension cord by 12:30 p.m. 

Participants can taste all the chili they can handle for a $10 fee; then they vote for their favorites. A baked-goods auction will also be part of the day along with live music, which starts at 1 p.m. Donations of baked goods are welcome and needed. Chili will be served beginning at 1 p.m. and will be served until it’s gone. 

Just Jackie’s restaurant will be serving drinks only for this event; the kitchen will not be open. Proceeds go to the Pontiac Fireworks Fund.
