Cubbage Memorial Bass Tourney set for March 31 at Pontiac Cove

The 12th annual Verne D. Cubbage Memorial Bass Tournament out of Pontiac Cove Marina is set for Saturday, March 31, on Bull Shoals Lake. The tournament honors Verne Cubbage who, after moving to the Ozarks and operating a fishing resort on Bull Shoals, had two favorite pastimes, fishing and driving a school bus for special events at Gainesville, his family said. Proceeds benefit school charities.
All fishermen are welcome to compete in the tournament, which will have a guaranteed payout for the top five places and a 100 percent big bass pot payout. A “young fisherman” prize will be awarded to the top fisherman age 16 and younger for the top weight fish.
Entries are preferred by Thursday, March 29, but will be accepted until 6:30 a.m. the day of the tournament. The fee is $100 per boat and $10 per boat for the big bass pot. Take-off will be 7 a.m. on March 31, with a 3:30 p.m. weigh-in. Pre-tournament check-in will begin at 6:30 a.m.
Since the tournament’s inception, $13,000 has been raised for charities.
