OMC Dice Run of the Mills fundraiser set for June 9

Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains will sponsor its second annual OMC Dice Run of the Mills, with several Ozark County stops, on Saturday, June 9. Proceeds from the event will go toward purchasing new infant cribs and bassinettes for the OMC newborn nursery.
While the fund-raiser event is geared toward motorcycles, it’s open to vehicles of all types, said event co-chair Melissa Smith. Last year, 145 motorcycles and 17 vehicles participated in the event. “We are hoping for those numbers to grow this year with the addition of two off-road routes that adventure bikes and four-wheel-drive vehicles can take advantage of,” she said. “Last year, we saw friends and families loaded up in the car, truck or jeep, having a great time driving through our beautiful Ozarks for a good cause.”
The cost to enter is $20 per vehicle and includes a Dice Run “swag bag.” Riders can begin the route anytime after registration, which will be from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at OMC Parkway Center, 1211 Porter Wagoner Blvd. in West Plains.
To participate in the dice game, dice scoring cards can be purchased for $5 each, with no limit on how many cards one can play. T-shirts will be available for purchase at both registration and the Lot Party.
The two new routes offered for adventure bikes and four-wheel-drive vehicles include a route that goes through Caney Mountain Conserva-tion Area, off Highway 181 in Ozark County, and another route that travels alongside Bryant Creek in Douglas County, which is for more experienced riders, Smith said.
The Dice Run is a 125-mile ride that will have stops at Cloud 9 Ranch, the Antler in Gainesville, Rockbridge, Hodgson Mill and Twin Bridges, and then end at a ‘lot party’ at Great Rivers Distributing in West Plains. “It’s a way to showcase the beauty of the Ozarks and invite riders to join local riders in experiencing all the Ozarks has to offer,” Smith said.
The lot party will open at 3 p.m. with food trucks, a cash bar, silent auction and vendor booths. A rock band, Fender Bender, will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will play throughout the afternoon. Dice Run awards will be announced at 4:30 p.m.; the 50/50 drawing winner and silent auction winners will be announced at 5 p.m.
The rules of a dice run specify that five dice will be rolled at each of the six Dice Roll stops. The player’s score will be recorded on his or her dice scoring card. A prize will be awarded to the winner of each stop for highest roll (at Cloud 9 Ranch, Rockbridge and Twin Bridges) and lowest roll (at The Antler, Hodgson Mill and Great Rivers Distributing).
The grand prize of $100 will be awarded to the participant who has the highest overall dice roll score after all six rolls. Consolation prizes will be awarded for lowest overall score, oldest motorcycle driver or passenger, and for the person who traveled the farthest to compete.
