BIG BOB’S FISHING REPORT

Bass fishing is an early morning or late evening activity. Top-water lures like the spook or popper work well early and late. Throw a frog near the brush, and you may get your arm broken! Once the top-water bite slows, look for flooded fields as bass will be looking for worms and small fish. In many cases, you will be fishing in 4 feet or less.
During the heat of the day, try a jig or plastic worm over brush piles. The Dixee Jet spoon has been effective fished at bluff ends. Let it sink to 30 feet and work it back slow and try to keep it in 30 feet as long as you can.
Crappie are done with their spawn and have moved deep. Spoons over deep brush piles will be your best bet. Walleye are deep, and trolling Flicker Shad baits or night crawlers are your best options. Big bluegill can be found along bluff walls in 20 to 30 feet. Night crawlers are your best bet.
Fishing for everything will improve as the lakes return to normal levels.
This week’s specials are 25 percent off all top-water baits and 25 percent off all soft plastic baits. It’s a good time to fill your tackle box.
