The bite is still on!

Fishergirls Nora Welch, 9, right, and cousin Laney Suter, 13, caught 14 crappie in under an hour while fishing out of Theodosia Marina Resort on Bull Shoals Lake.

A good day of fishing Karen Beasley of St. Louis, a long-time guest of Theodosia Marina Resort, caught these white bass, crappie and hybrid bass Sunday while fishing on Bull Shoals Lake. She said, in the spirit of fostering good, continued fishing for years to come, she released the larger white bass back into the lake.

The bite is on! Don Seper of St. Louis, a guest at Turkey Creek Ranch near Theodosia, caught this stringer of crappie, walleye and bass Sunday morning while fishing with his brother Jim Seper. The pair visit Turkey Creek for two or three weeks each summer and fall to fish.

Big catch Tom Glodo of Pinckneyville, Illinois, caught this 11-pound 5-ounce walleye recently on Bull Shoals Lake. The photo was shared on the Theodosia Marina Resort Facebook page, which reported that Glodo and his friend Mark Schnider caught large mouth bass, small mouth bass, crappie and carp during their recent trip to Bull Shoals, which they said included the best fishing they’ve had in years.

20-pound gobbler Kannon Morrison, 13, son of Marty and Heather Morrison, shot this gobbler while hunting on the family farm near Gainesville. It weighed 20 pounds and had one 9-inch and one 5-inch beard.

Jacob’s first turkey Jacob Lampley, right, killed his first turkey Sunday, April 21, while hunting with his father, Mike Lampley, and his grandfather, Don Wages. Don told the Times he was happy and felt privileged to be able to call in the turkey for his grandson. Jacob is pictured with his brother, Maverick. They are the sons of Mike and Martika Lampley of Tecumseh.

Fishermen (and fishergirls!) are enjoying some excellent fishing on Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes this spring. Young turkey hunters have had some success as well.
