High water closes some county roads
High water continues to be a problem in some areas of Ozark County due to recent rains and rising lake levels. At the weekly meeting of the Ozark County Commissioners on Monday, Eastern District Commis-sioner Gary Collins said the North Fork of the White River, as it flows into Norfork Lake, has backed up so that water now covers the bridge on County Road 318 at Dawt Mill. Farther south, County Road 551, known locally as Smokey Road, is also closed due to high water in some areas, Collins said.
However, Warren Bridge on County Road 328, and the Highway 181 bridge over Bryant Creek at Hodgson Mill remain open.
Western District Commissioner Greg Donley said County Road 614 at Gooley Creek is closed, and so is County Road 683 at Haskins Ford. The crossing known as Steel Tracks is also closed due to high water.
