New Jump! after-school program set to begin when school year starts

Logan Strong, a recent Missouri State Univeristy graduate with a degree in exercise and movement science, is starting JUMP! Academy, a new after-school program for Gainesville students.

A new after-school program for elementary students in Gainesville is in the works for the 2018-2019 school year. The program, JUMP! Academy, is not affiliated with Gainesville R-V Schools. It’s the brainchild of Logan Strong, a recent Missouri State University graduate who holds a degree in exercise and movement science with a focus on pediatric obesity management.
“This program is designed for parents who need a safe place for their kids to go to directly after school,” Strong said. “We’ll work with the children on staying active and learning healthy snack options, and we’ll help with homework. The program is not an exercise class where children will be pushed or forced to be active. It’s simply a place where they have can be active with group games and activities, do homework and build social skills with peers.”
The JUMP! Academy program will be in the Gainesville Elementary School building and will start immediately after the school day ends. Children must be picked up by 6 p.m. The cost is $30 a week for each child. A limited number of children will be accepted due to state licensing regulations. A snack will be provided each day.
“I’m dedicating my career to finding the best way to get our future generation healthy and active in a simple and fun way,” Strong said. “I want to make a difference and hopefully leave an impact on everyone involved.”
