Amelia LaMair joins the Ozark County Times staff

Amelia LaMair of Sycamore has joined the Ozark County Times staff as a reporter/office staff member. She works Mondays and Fridays covering the Ozark County commissioners’ weekly meetings and also working with school news and on general feature/news assignments.

“We’re happy to welcome Amelia to the Times,” said publisher Norene Prososki. “She cares about Ozark County and is active in our community. She’s a great addition to our staff.”

LaMair moved to Ozark County in the fall of 2011 when she and partner Eric Tumminia, an adjunct professor of English at Missouri State University-West Plains, bought a farm in the Sycamore community near Hodgson Mill. She currently serves as the Ozark County Chamber of Commerce office manager and also manages a project titled Building the Local Food Economy in Ozark County. The program, funded through Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education, facilitates networking opportunities between local farmers and gardeners to better meet local food needs. As part of the project, LaMair publishes a monthly newsletter, “Ozarks Agrarian News.”

She graduated from Central High School in Springfield in 2007 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and anthropology from Truman State in Kirksville in 2011.

“Ozark Countians who meet Amelia here in the office or when she’s out gathering news will immediately see why we’re excited to have her join the Times staff,” said Times editor Sue Ann Jones. “She’s friendly and enthusiastic, and she has a talent for listening and writing.”

LaMair replaces former Times employee Regina Mozingo, who left the Times staff to join the West Plains Daily Quill in July 2017.
