Caulfield mobile home burns Monday
A Caulfield resident was transported by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains for treatment of smoke inhalation Monday after a fire broke out at her home on County Road 346 off H Highway in Caulfield. A second resident was home at the time of the blaze but did not sustain injuries, Caulfield Volunteer Fire Department chief Shannon Sisney said Monday, adding that the names of the homeowners are not yet being released.
An Ozark County Sheriff’s Department dispatcher told the Times the fire call came in at 9:45 a.m. Monday. Caulfield VFD responded as the primary fire department, and Bakersfield, Tecumseh and Rural Howell County VFDs responded in mutual aid. Seven firetrucks and 15-20 firefighters battled the fire.
The blaze was rolling when firefighters arrived on scene, but the mobile home was not fully engulfed, Sisney told the Times.
“The fire appeared to have started between the bathroom and master bedroom, but there is an unknown cause,” he said. “We were able to save the trailer; however, the kitchen, one bedroom, master bedroom and an add-on room have heavy fire damage. The front room has moderate fire damage, and the other bathroom and bedroom have smoke damage only.”
Firefighters cleared the scene around 1 p.m. Monday. The Red Cross was also contacted to help provide aid to the family.
