Firefighter volunteers practice extraction training

Firefighters from Gainesville, Bakersfield and Tecumseh volunteer fire departments participated in a training session April 10 to familiarize themselves with Bakersfield’s new equipment and practice with current TVFD and GVFD tools. The session was held in Tecumseh at Duke’s Truck Repair, which provided the vehicles that were cut up during extraction practice.
Gainesville Fire Chief Ed Doiron, one of serveral state certified instructors in the county, said it’s hoped that similar training sessions can be held several times during the year. Those attending from Bakersfield VFD were chief Greg Watts, assistant chief Lloyd “Punk” Stone and firefighter / emergency medical responders Kelly Fowler and Zach Fowler. Tecumseh VFD participants were chief Nathaneal Winrod, assistant chief J. B. Duke and firefighter / emergency medical responder Steve Ator. Those participating from Gainesville VFD were Doiron, firefighter/ emergency medical responder Sage McGinnis, firefighter Jacob Russo and firefightter / R.N. Lisa Hoffman.
