Gainesville runners compete at Mountain Grove - GJHS boys team takes first place

Gainesville R-V elementary, junior high and high school runners raced in the Mountain Grove Invitational cross country meet Thursday, Oct. 14, at the Randell Hinkle Golf Course in Mountain Grove.
The Gainesville boys junior high team took first place in the 2,400-meter run at the meet. Eighth grader Isaac Pippin came in sixth place among 51 total runners with his time of 9:34.46. Lyle Pippin, seventh grade, placed 13th with a time 10:00.86. McCartney Armstrong, eighth grade, placed 14th with his time of 10:09.03. Hudson Phoenix, seventh grade, placed 21st with a time of 10:52.99; and seventh grader Peyton Hathcock came in 48th with a time of 13:49.96.
Three Gainesville elementary boys placed in the top 10 out of 29 total runners. Aden Gaulding came in fourth with a time of 10:29, with Archer Luna on his heels, coming in fifth place with a time of 10:30. Howard Wade placed seventh with a time of 10:49. Ashton Young placed 27th with a time of 17:23.
In the elementary girls cross country 2,400-meter run, Macayla Rhodes placed fourth with a time of 11:15, and Jessica Suit placed eighth with her time of 11:24. Macie Phillips took 14th with 11:53, and Peyton Hicks place 40th with her time of 19:43.
Three Gainesville high school runners competed in the 5,000-meter run. Andrew Botts-Papcke ran his 5K in 19:47 and placed 21st out of 89 runners. Maverick Bushner took 31st with his time of 20:53, and Sean Wallace placed 47th with a time of 22:04.
The runners traveled to Fordland Tuesday, Oct. 20. Varsity runners will complete in the Summit Conference meet in Conway on Monday, Oct. 26.
