A large garage/workshop owned by Curtis and Kimberlie Nielsen was destroyed in a Monday afternoon fire on County Road 303, just east of Hardenville. Curtis Nielsen said the family was not home when the fire started in the detached structure. The Nielsens had recently moved into the new home, and they were using the garage for storage. Nielsen said there was no electricity in the structure, and no vehicles or ATVs were stored in the garage. The structure was fully engulfed when firefighters from Lick Creek, Caney Mountain, Tecumseh and Gainesville volunteer fire departments arrived on scene. See additional photo, page 14.
