Helped by Long-Term Recovery Committee

The Ozark County Long-Term Recovery Committee responded to last week’s article in the Times describing the Nov. 30 fire that destroyed the vehicle that was the only mode of transportation for Justin Ledbetter and Krista Cofer and their five children by presenting the couple with a check for $250. LTRC chairman Shawn Taylor, left, and LTRC treasurer Doris Sayles, right, presented the check to Ledbetter and Kofer last week in Gainesville. The couple told the committee members that since the article was published, they have had to move their family from their rented home, which was damaged by the vehicle fire, and their children have had to be split up among other family members until an appropriate living situation can be found. Kofer said they were grateful for the help and are looking forward to helping others in need when they get back on their feet, Taylor said. The Long-Term Recovery Committee is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to helping fellow Ozark County citizens who become survivors of natural or manmade disasters. Tax-deductible donations are always welcome, and anyone interested in joining the committee is invited to attend the next meeting, which is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at The Meeting Place on Third Street west of the Gainesville square.
