Historium to host free old-fashioned decoration station at Christmas event
Children attending Gainesville’s Wonders of Christmas event Friday, Dec. 6, are invited to help trim the Historium’s Christmas tree. An interactive decoration station will feature instruction and the needed supplies to make colorful paper chains, paper snowflakes and foil-covered stars, “just like their grandparents and great-grandparents did in times past,” a Historium volunteer said.
With a nod to old-fashioned tree trimming from years gone by when students in one-room schools made their own decorations, a freshly cut cedar tree will be waiting to be decorated.
The activity is free to all who wish to participate.
The Historium is on the west side of the Gainesville square. A soup and chili supper will also be served in the Historium as a fundraiser (see Wonders of Christmas list on page 5 for more information), and tables will be available for those who wish to dine inside.
The Wonders of Christmas event will kick off at 6 p.m. on the Gainesville square.
