MacPherson recognized for her work in judicial transfer, partnership programs

44th Circuit Associate Judge Cynthia MacPherson

Associate 44th Circuit Judge Cynthia MacPherson of Pontiac was recently recognized for her contributions and participation in the judicial transfer and partnership programs, which allow presiding judges of partnered circuits to arrange for the transfer of judicial resources and cover cases in areas outside their home county.

“We are so pleased with how well the judicial transfer and partnership programs have been working,” Missouri Chief Justice Zel M. Fischer said recently when he recognized MacPherson during the annual Judicial Conference of Missouri, held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Missouri Bar. “We have qualified, capable and experienced judges in Missouri, and we appreciate the service of those who travel outside of their home counties to hear cases throughout the state. This a much-needed judicial service that ultimately helps ensure the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of Missouri’s courts and their availability to resolve the people’s disputes.”

In discussing the award with the Times, MacPherson said that, while she has traveled throughout the state as part of the judicial transfer and partnership program, she has never had another judge cover her own docket. She is available to enter orders on all newly filed Ozark County criminal cases 24 hours a day, seven days a week, she said.
