More fun Halloween events and fall fests planned in this area

Halloween is Tuesday, and Ozark County residents may choose from a wide array of area activities to join in on the fun. From trunk-or-treat events across the county to costume contests and Halloween parties, there’s no shortage of places to celebrate the spooky and family-fun-filled holiday. In addition, several fall festivals are planned throughout the area.

Colorama fall festival, Bull Shoals, Arkansas

 The Bull Shoals Lake-White River Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Colorama fall festival Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27-28, at the Roy Danuser City Park in Bull Shoals. A 5K run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. Vendors will be operating, and outhouse races and a haunted hayride are planned. For more information visit www.bullshoals.org. 

 

Fall fest at Carl Wayne’s Nursery, Mountain Home, Arkansas

Carl Wayne’s Nursery is hosting a fall fest from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the nursery on Ninth Street in Mountain Home. The event will feature free 4x6 photos for kids and a pumpkin-decorating contest. Prize bags, popcorn and hot apple cider will be available. For more information call the nursery at 870-425-6966.

 

Halloween Party at Dawt Mill’s Beach Bar, Tecumseh

 – An adults-only costume party at the Dawt Mill Beach Bar will include music by the Porch Lights Band. The event, which begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, has a $7 cover charge. Drink specials will also be served.

 

Halloween party at the Isabella VFW

 Isabella VFW Post #5366 is hosting a Halloween party beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. The event, which is open to the public, will feature a costume contest with first, second and third places, Halloween specials and live music by Lou Raymond. Halloween fun at Bass Pro Shops, Springfield

Bass Pro Shops in Springfield is hosting free, family-friendly Halloween events from Friday, Oct. 27, through Halloween night featuring free crafts, games and a photo with the Peanuts gang. The events will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and Monday, and from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s activities will also feature trick-or-treating at the store from 3 to 5 p.m., and a costume parade at 4 p.m. with participants getting a free jack o’lantern tote. Halloween night activities are listed below. 

 

Howl-o-ween Fest, Humane Society, Mountain Home, Ark.

The Humane Society in Mountain Home, Arkansas, will host a Howl-O-Ween event from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. A children’s costume contest will be held at 5 p.m., followed by a dog costume contest at 5:30 p.m. A haunted trail will be available from 5:30 to 6 p.m. for children ages 12 and younger and from 7 to 9 p.m. for those ages 13 and older. An auction will be held at 6 p.m. Organizers say  a fortuneteller and balloon artist will  be on hand, and face painting and food will be offered. Movie night showing Monsters, Inc., Gainesville - CANCELLED

The Gainesville PTO has announced that they have cancelled Friday night's movie showing of Monsters, Inc. at the Gainesville football field due to cold predicted temperatures. The PTO plans to reschedule the movie night for a later time. Follow "Gainesville PTO" on Facebook for updates.

Ava Halloween costume contest

The Ava Lions Club is hosting a costume contest from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the Ava square. Organizers say great prizes will be awarded to winners, and every entrant gets a treat. 

 

Bakersfield’s 12th annual Harvest Festival at Pride Park Pavilion

First Baptist Church of Bakersfield will host its 12th annual Harvest Festival from 6 to 8 p.m at the Pride Park Pavilion. Trunk-or-treat will be held, along with games, candy, chili and other food and hot drinks. Organizers say the event is intended for those from birth to age 80+. Fall festival at Gainesville First Baptist Church

The annual fall festival at Gainesville’s First Baptist Church on Second Street in Gainesville will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m., coinciding with the Gainesville Trunk-or-Treat on the square nearby. The event will feature games, candy, prizes, food and much more. For more information, call the church at 417-679-4473.

 

Gainesville Health Care Center Trick-or-Treat, Gainesville

Gainesville Health Care Center, on Highway 160 west of Gainesville, will host trick-or-treating from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Organizers invite all little ghosts and goblins to visit the health care center in costume with a treat bag in tow. For more information call GHCC at 417-679-4921.

 

Halloween fun at Bass Pro Shops, Springfield

Bass Pro Shops in Springfield will feature Halloween activities from 4 to 8 p.m., with trick-or-treating in the store at 5 p.m. and a costume parade at 6 p.m. For more information visit www.basspro.com/halloween. 

 

Lutie School Trunk-or-Treat event, Theodosia

 Lutie School will host a trunk-or-treat event from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the school parking lot. Community members, organizations and school clubs are encouraged to participate in handing out candy. Those who plan to hand out candy are asked to contact the school at 417-273-4150 beforehand to make arrangements. 

 

Ozark County’s annual Trunk-or-Treat on the Gainesville square Ozark County’s eighth annual Trunk-or-Treat will be held on the Gainesville square from 6 to 8 p.m. Area residents are encouraged to participate in passing out candy from their decorated car trunks. Sign-up is not required to pass out candy; just show up before 5:45 p.m., when the square will be roped off and closed to traffic.
