Newton wins presiding commissioner race in Primary Election

Terry Newton took home the most votes for Ozark County Presiding Commissioner in the Aug. 2 Primary Election with 742 residents casting a ballot in his favor, compared with 598 ballots cast for incumbent John Turner and 411 ballots cast for candidate Joe Corbin, according to unofficial results from the Ozark County Clerk's office. Newton accounted for 42.38 percent of the total vote, while Turner clocked in at 34.15 percent and Corbin had 23.47 percent.
A total of 1,940 ballots were cast of the 7,230 registered voters in the county, equating a total turnout of 26.83 percent.
