Ozark Vinyl moves into former Hodgson Mill plant

The former Hodgson Mill plant on County Road 806 in Gainesville is now home to a new company, Ozark Vinyl, a plastic-recycling business that moved into the facility in early December. The company, which has a contract with Baxter Healthcare Corporation to recycle scrap plastic, shares the space with the Ozark County Food Pantry, which has operated out of the building for the last few years. The structure, which formerly housed production facilities for Hodgson Mill whole-grain consumer products, was given to the nonprofit Gainesville Industrial and Community Development Committee by Siemer Milling Company, which bought the Hodgson Mill company in 1988; the new owner eventually moved production to Effingham, Illinois, leaving the building vacant. A committee member told the Times that Ozark Vinyl currently has five employees but plans to increase its work force to 10 or 12 employees in the near future. Applications are currently being accepted at the building on County Road 806 west of the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, he said. The Times was unable to reach a company representative for comment.
