Quilt show entries accepted 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sept. 19

Lou Arta Gaddy Corbin’s black-and-white, music-themed quilt won best of show at the 2017 Hootin an Hollarin Quilt show.

Hootin an Hollarin quilt show chair Lily Branco reminds those planning to participate in this year’s show to check in their entries between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, at The Meeting Place, 434 Third Street just west of the square.

Judging will take place Thursday morning, and the show will be open from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22.
Entries may be picked up after 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

The only requirement for entering a quilted item is that it has never been in the Hootin and Hollarin show before.

The show will include 10 categories that will be judged ranging from baby quilts, table runners and first quilts, youth (under age 18) to many combinations of hand- or machine-pieced or quilted and applique, plus special ribbons for judges choice, best in show, people’s choice and one for the 2018 festival theme, “Fun from the old school.”

Antique quilts, crochet and knitted piecework are welcome for display if space is available but will not be judged.

Branco asks area quilters to “ pass the word and help us have an awesome Hootin an Hollarin quilt show.”
