Reported trespassing at Cloud 9 Ranch leads to drug, paraphernalia charge

TRAVIS RILEY

A warrant with a $1,500 cash-only bond has been issued for the arrest of Travis Riley, 35, of Gainesville, in a case where he is charged with possession of a controlled substance (Xanax), possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the probable cause statement filed in the case by Ozark County Sheriff’s Deputy Seth Miller, the case began when an Ozark County dispatcher received a report of a trespassing incident on Cloud 9 Ranch property in Caulfield at 11 p.m. Saturday, June 13.

When Miller responded to the scene, he spoke with Cloud 9 Ranch rangers, who said that Riley had come onto the ranch that night and was asking ranch members and guests for drugs and alcohol. The rangers reportedly said Riley seemed to be in an intoxicated state on arrival.

Miller spoke with Riley, who allegedly smelled strongly of intoxicants and told the officer he had marijuana in his pocket. When searching the suspect, Miller found a small plastic bag filled with marijuana, a glass smoking device, rolling papers and a metal container. When Ozark County Sheriff’s Deputy Vesa Phelan drew Miller’s attention to the area where Riley was sitting, the officers found 13 small pink pills, identified as Xanax.

Miller packed up the items as evidence and transported Riley to the Ozark County Sheriff’s Department.
