A 19-year-old Mountain Home, Arkansas, woman, Peyton Fowler, died early Saturday morning as the result of an ATV accident at Cloud 9 Ranch near Caulfield. A passenger in the side-by-side vehicle, Jacob Waugh, 21, sustained severe injuries and was transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home by Ozark County Ambulance after Air Evac declined due to inclement weather. Waugh was later transferred to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, authorities said.

Ozark County Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Lane responded to the call that came into the sheriff's dispatch office at 2 a.m. Saturday, reporting the side-by-side rollover. Deputy Seth Miller conducted the post-crash investigation, including statements by friends who were with Fowler and Waugh at Cloud 9 that night. Two other ATVs were traveling in the group at the time, Miller said.

Miller said Fowler, who was driving the ATV, was traveling at "excessive speed" on one of the dirt roads in the 6,358-acre camping and recreational resort and "failed to negotiate a curve."

Ozark County Coroner Gene Britt pronounced Fowler deceased at the scene at 3:55 a.m.

Gofundme.com and Facebook fundraisers have been launched to help the families with funeral and medical-related expenses.
