Yvonne Clark gift creates endowment for Mizzou’s Summer Repertory Theatre

An endowment established by Yvonne Murray Clark to honor her husband, the late Larry D. Clark, will provide sustained support to the Summer Repertory Theatre at the University of Missouri in Columbia, which opened its first season in 1969 under Larry’s Clark’s direction and was named in his honor last summer. Yvonne Clark is an Ozark County native, as was her husband, who died in December 2014 at age 82.

The Yvonne Lou Murray Clark Endowment for the Larry D. Clark Summer Repertory Theatre is funded through Yvonne Clark’s estate plan and will provide annual support to the SRT in perpetuity. The endowment also will allow the SRT to expand its ability to stage large, expensive productions such as Seussical the Musical.

Patricia Okker, dean of the College of Arts and Science, says the SRT is a wonderful example of the rich, hands-on learning opportunities offered at MU. “We are extremely grateful to Yvonne Clark. Her generous support provides wonderful career development opportunities for our students,” Okker said.

In addition to founding the SRT at MU, Dr. Clark also created the MU theatre graduate program and served as dean of the College of Arts and Science from 1988 to 1997. He retired from the university in 1999 as professor emeritus and dean emeritus.
