Amber Nicole High, 4

Funeral services for Amber Nicole High, 4, of Rayville, were held July 23, 2020, at Foster Funeral Chapels in Carrollton with Pastor Bill Purcell officiating. Amber died July 13 at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City due to a tragic drowning accident on July 11 at her home in Rayville. 

She was born March 10, 2016, in Rayville, the daughter of Curtis and Samantha Green High. Her brother, Bentley David High, was born 14 months later. The home was filled with all the joy and happiness that come with two small babies. Amber loved to play make-believe, taking her brother and mommy to “jail” or being a McDonald’s cashier and taking their food orders. After dressing in her princess clothes, she would remind her mother, “Say, ‘Wow!’ Mommy.” She was a happy girl with an infectious laugh.  

She loved playing outside and enjoyed doing chores with her grandma. She made a significant impact on many lives in her four short years. She will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her parents and brother of Rayville; grandparents Sammy Green Jr., and Karry Green, Darell and Christina High, Ronald Campbell and Tom Hartman; great-grandparents Sammy Green Sr., and Ron and Alta High of Wasola; aunts Chelsea Shelmadine and husband Jesse, Melissa Dorton and husband Chris, Rachel Goff and husband D.J., Alexis Trantham and husband Tom Youngquist; uncles Andrew Campbell, Benjamin Trantham and wife Brooke Boyles; cousins Haley Loyd, Chasity Goff, Brandon Dorton, Hayden Dorton, Maverick Youngquist and Noah, Bennett, and Asher Shelmadine.

She was preceded in death by her uncle, David High; her grandmas Lola Goff and grandma Laural Campbell; great-grandmother Gail Green; great-aunt Lula Pigg; and cousin B.J. Covey.
