Avis Earlene Souder Loftis, 97

Funeral services for Avis Earlene Souder Loftis, 97, of Nottinghill, were scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Nov. 18, 2020, at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville. Visitation was scheduled for 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Loftis died Nov. 11 at her home.

She was born Nov. 27, 1922, in Nottinghill, the daughter of Melvis Alvin and Cora Mae Foster Sievert. She graduated from Thornfield High School and then from what is now Missouri State University in Springfield. She taught school for many years. After retiring from teaching, she served as postmaster in Nottinghill for several years. She loved gardening and taking care of her cats. She was loved and will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Ralph Brown of Gainesville; her daughter, Joyce Silvey of Thornfield; grandchildren Travis Brown, Jessica (Silvey) and Clint Frye; great-grandchildren Novalee Newkirk and Cole Cannon, Ashton Jordan, Dawson Brown; three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Boyd Souder and Everett Loftis; son-in-law Dale Silvey; daughter-in-law Carryl Brown; and one grandson, Todd Brown.

Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Wasola.
