Briann Therrien, 33

A memorial service for Briann Therrien, 33, of Joplin, was held Aug. 2, 2022, at Mason-Woodard Chapel in Joplin. Briann died July 25, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis following a courageous battle with leukemia.

She was born May 23, 1989, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Beth Greenfield and Mike Therrien. She lived most of her life in the Joplin area, where she could often be found with her youth group friends at various music venues and coffee shops. She graduated from Joplin High School in 2007. 

She worked as a dental assistant at Uncommon Orthodontics, where she brought smiles to patients and peers alike. Briann was always joyful, charismatic and generous, going out of her way to help others. She loved music with a passion and especially enjoyed singing karaoke with friends. Her favorite place to visit was Nashville. She always had a positive attitude, even in the face of great trials. She was a faithful friend, daughter, sister and mother who touched many people with her vibrant personality.

She is survived by her daughter, Ellie Therrien, of the home; her mother and stepfather, Beth and Wayne Greenfield of Webb City; her father and stepmother, Mike and Chastity Therrien of Liberty; three brothers, Shane Therrien and wife Mandy and their children Liya and Madilyn of Webb City, Kyle Therrien and wife Kimberly of Ashland City, Tennessee, and River Therrien of Liberty; her maternal grandmother, former Ozark County resident Carol Ann Morrison of Carl Junction; her paternal grandmother, Karen Therrien of Derby, Kansas; Ellie’s father, Brett Ferguson; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, former Ozark County resident Gary Morrison; and her paternal grandfather David Therrien; and her cousin Treff Carpenter.
